Pattern Making
By Draping
Using a dress form, I was able to create muslin blocks. I made multiple blocks to practice different bodice, skirt and swimsuit designs. I then used these techniques to design and create my final design, a gown. I also made a tech pack for my gown.
Pattern Making With CAD
Using a Computer Aided Design (CAD), I was able to recreate a leather jacket with my partner. The pattern making on the computer made it easier to change and fix the design. An important step is to measure again and again to make sure it is accurate.
Flat Pattern Making
The first patternmaking skills I learned were flat patternmaking techniques using tissue paper. I learned how to manipulate the tissue paper to create patterns for a scoop-neck shirt and a flared skirt.
